Dear Yuletide Writer!

Hello! Thank you so much for writing me a thing! I hope you can find something here that you think you'll have fun with, but if not, Optional Details Are Optional and I'd rather read fic you're excited about than something you were bored with or unsure about. These are all very small fandoms, and even just seeing a fic posted that I would never read because of squicks is already really cool just because it's activity! In the fandom! A new fic in the fandom that is for me and avoids my DNWs and that the author enjoyed writing, that'll be a joy no matter what it is. ðŸ’œðŸ’œðŸ’œ

And if you do want to write one of my prompts, please don’t think I won’t be happy if you don’t write it exactly the way I suggested it! Even if a prompt is detailed, I’d still love to see a different take on the same general idea. I probably just got carried away in my excitement or was trying to be helpful. And if a prompt isn't detailed, that doesn't mean I'm not excited about it! I haven't had the time to standardize the prompt styles between the different fandoms.

Treats are also very welcome!

(Oct 20th edit: added some smut likes, a couple more prompts for Beauty Newbie, the mini-challenges, and one more line to the paragraph about unrequested characters for Summer Night. No dislikes added, promise!)

Things I like (general):

Comedy; cracky premises treated seriously; AU premises: canon divergence, one difference and its many consequences, setting change with lots of details changed but parallel to canon (it's just so satisfying!); arranged marriage, soulmate AUs, and other predetermined relationship tropes; fics that take canon details and extrapolate things from them that the canon creators didn't necessarily mean to put there; polyamory/consensual non-monogamy in most forms (not swinging, though); aro and aroace characters and relationships; queerplatonic, alterous, or ambiguous relationships; queer friendships; gender identity explorations; neurodivergent characters; characters finding their people; characters finding common ground with people who are not their people; flirting and bantering.

And judging by the prompts I ended up repeating in multiple fandoms, also magic that fits into mundane canons, fics about stories and writing (including fic about fic!), and characters who know they're fictional.

If I mention disliking something in this letter that is not on my DNW list, please just treat that as extra information! They’re not DNWs I forgot, they’re things I don’t generally like that I didn’t want to ban from my gift entirely. And I don’t mean you can only include them if they’re portrayed negatively! You can literally write me a kink fic with a kink I said I didn’t like and I might absolutely love it if it's written in an “X for people who don’t like X” kind of way. Let the character who has the kink bring me around to it for the duration of the fic! Or, if I say I don’t like some heteronormative trope or another, it can still be in the story as something a specific character feels is true for them personally, and that can absolutely be treated neutrally; I just don’t want a story that treats it like it’s definitely right for everyone. These things are much too amorphous to DNW imo, so just use your judgement. I trust you.

About sexual content: I enjoy stories with sexual content in them, including stories that are entirely about sex. That doesn’t refer only to smut for smut’s sake. I like realistic sex scenes, I like curious ace/into it for other reasons sex scenes, I like sex scenes as relationships studies. I like stories that talk about sex without trying to be a sexual experience for the reader, because I just find sex interesting.
Straight-up smut is a little more hit-or-miss for me, but it works better if there is lots of horny inner monologue from the POV character. Also if the story still prioritizes cohesive characters over hotness.
On the other hand, I really appreciate horniness in stories that don’t even have sex scenes in them! Also, I don’t see this a lot, but comedic sex scenes are great, as is making comedy out of a character's horniness.
My squick line on age for actual sex scenes, as you can see in my DNWs, is 15, but age-typical horniness/interest in sex in younger characters is fine.

Other likes in sexual content: friendly sex, non-romantic sexual relationships, toys, praise kink, character fantasies, characters sharing fantasies with each other, lots of dialogue in general, good consent, oral sex (including rimming), comeplay, riding, frotting/tribbing, all forms of long-distance sexual activity, characters masturbating in front of each other, exhibitionist fantasies.

Dislikes in sexual content (not DNWs!): sexual encounters with strangers, daddy kink, piss kink, ageplay, sex as consummation of the relationship, one kind of sex as the kind that "really counts", guilt about having sex, jealousy/possessiveness as a turn-on.

Opt-ins: First or second person, poetry, filk, epistolary fic, kidfic, pregnancy
Crossovers or fusions are also fine, except with HP which is in my DNWs. There's a lot of popular media I don't know, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't enjoy a crossover or fusion with it if it's self-explanatory. Pacific Rim comes to mind as a world I enjoy fic set in even though I've never watched the movies.
GMMTV crossovers: I assume it's clear, from how I requested 5 different GMMTV series, that I do know many of those... I've at least tried every BL/GL and every non-romance focused show or ensemble show (romance-focused or not) that ran in the last two years, and many from the back-catalogue. I like comedies, so some of the unpopular ones too.
Regarding crossovers inspired by who the characters are played by, I'm not usually super into them. If it's about pairing a character with a character played by the actor's regular/past ship partner, that's really not my thing. If it's about characters played by the same actor being twins/siblings/cousins, I don't usually find that very interesting. Mistaken identity shenanigans and swapping places with no explanation can be pretty fun as crack premises, though. I also really don't mind if you ignore who the characters are played by and include characters played by the same actor with no mention of them looking alike or only mentioning it for a gag about how they don't see the resemblance.

Mini-challenge comments links: Three Turtle Doves, Queering the Tide, TransTide.
I didn't comment on Wrapping Paper because I don't have any art prompts, but I'm not oppose to receiving art treats, except for realistic explicit art for the live action canons.

DNWs:
- Reader insert (my gift being a reader insert, I mean; reader insert fics within the fic are fine)
- Non-Thai AU for a Thai fandom
- Christmas as the major theme/draw of the story
- a Harry Potter AU
- Sex scenes with characters aged under 15, including all types of sex acts (mentions, a couple of vague or summarizing lines, or fade to black are all fine)
- Incest (exception: for The Shipper, if it's not actual incest happening in the actual story, it's fine. I don't mind the bodyswap stuff, and I'd like to see Soda's behavior challenged)
- A fic that is a gender essentialist fantasy, even if the relevant genders are fictional secondary genders (AKA woke omegaverse only, please 😅)
- Characters being secretly evil that were not so in canon or fic from the POV of canonical evil characters
- Explicit gore, torture, or intense violence (mild violence and mentions of canon violence are okay)
- Any mention of physically violent rape
- Descriptions of sex in violent terms even if it's not literal
- Descriptions of wild and uncontrolled penetrative sex
- Consent issues that aren't treated as such (please note that desire does not equal consent)
- Intentional sexual assault that is both real in the world of the story and described in any detail (including if it’s assault because one character is unable to consent due to young age or muddled consciousness)
- Dialogue that constitutes malicious or willfully careless verbal sexual harassment (you can say that it happened or even summarize what was said, but don’t include the actual phrasing)
- Inherently exploitative (big power imbalance) sexual and/or romantic relationships described in detail
- Scat

More about consent issues, just to clarify in case you’re worried or confused:
When I say I want consent issues to be treated as such, I don’t mean that someone in the story necessarily has to directly say with words that it’s not okay! I do like that, but it could also just be comedic unreliable narrator magic that relies on the reader already being aware that it’s not okay, and that would be absolutely fine! And of course, even if you do go the serious conversation route, there’s no need to treat a simple miscommunication as unforgivable (but it's also okay if it's hard to forgive, since that generally depends on levels of trust and personal history).

Examples of what I mean by “desire does not equal consent”: if a character wants something to happen but never communicates it in any way, that doesn’t count as consent. If a character wants something to happen but makes a decision contrary to that desire and communicates that decision, then even if there is evidence of their desire, the character did not consent. An obvious example for that would be being horny and sleepy at the same time and choosing sleep, or refusing to have sex or make out with someone who is in an exclusive relationship with someone else, despite finding them attractive.
